John Lawton Cullison, Jr., was an artist residing in Naples, Florida. He had a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute of California and a Masters of Art degree from Ball State University of Muncie, Indiana. His images portray "other-worldy" states of consciousness. I (Iasos) personally think of his art as Visionary-Balinese, even though the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art classifies his work as Visionary Realism. John preferred to work on large surfaces, using a combination of airbrush and handbrush, to produce his unique surrealistic magic. There is a deeply-spiritual theme, underlying all of John's creations.

"For a split second at sunrise and sunset, 'Heaven's Back Door' appears above the peninsula of Florida. Mother Mary pauses to offer a prayer of gratitude."

"John created this Beautiful image of Moses and Elijah at Heaven's Back Door, as Mother Mary ascends Heaven's Stairway with Holy Spirits, around her. His home state of Florida is seen from far above. It was John's vision of what Heaven must be like.
As John's Personal Physician and Good Friend, He offered me this Painting.
It has been in my Home for 25 years along with other beautiful paintings by John.
It was one of John's Favorite works.
His untimely passing makes his work even more special to all who knew and loved him."
